The event discusses the implications of the war in Ukraine on energy and food security, industrial supply chains and environmental protection, and the role of the European Green Deal in addressing them. In addition, the event will consider the impact of the conflict on policy coherence, social protection and international cooperation, with key recommendations for the EU and developing countries.
The event builds on the findings of the ETTG policy brief “The European Green Deal and the war in Ukraine: Addressing crises in the short and long term”. The policy brief argues that the European Green Deal is the EU’s best policy tool to address the implications of the war in Ukraine domestically and in developing countries, while mitigating long-term climate-related impacts. Speakers from the different European institutions and research centers will give their perspectives and valuable input and will seek to identify solutions and ways forward in response to the implications of the war.
