ETTG – AFD: Setting the scene for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development

Timeline: September 2024 – June 2026

Linking European, African, Asian and Latin-American global development think tanks

ETTG is proud to announce the launch of a new project, supported by the French Development Agency (AFD), aimed at addressing critical challenges in development financing and the reform of international financial architecture.

This initiative seeks to:

  1. Identify and overcome political bottlenecks impeding a cohesive European position on development financing.
  2. Contribute to the ongoing discourse on reforming the international financial architecture.
  3. Develop strategic recommendations for upcoming high-level political meetings, including the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Sevilla, Spain, July 2025.

Multi-Phase Approach

Our comprehensive strategy unfolds in three key phases:

1. Global Perspective Gathering:

– Organizing webinars to capture insights from peer think tanks across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
– Identifying pressing reform needs from diverse global viewpoints.
2. Policy Analysis and Recommendations:

– Producing three in-depth ETTG Policy Briefs.

– Offering actionable policy recommendations for European decision-makers.
3. High-Level Engagement and Dissemination:

– Hosting two exclusive closed-door events.

– Facilitating discussions among key decision-makers on reform implementation.

– Widely disseminating project findings and materials.

This project underscores ETTG’s commitment to shaping a more equitable global financial system and reinforcing Europe’s role in international development financing. Stay tuned for updates as we progress through this crucial initiative.
