Yesterday in Brussels, we convened a discussion on one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the
We were honoured to host two powerful keynote addresses at the Press Club Brussels Europe from:
- H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President of Ghana and champion of the African Leaders for Justice & an End to Debt and Poverty.
- Amb. Lavina Ramkissoon, Ambassador to the African Union for Economic Development and Digital Technologies.
In partnership with the Heinrich-Bรถll-Stiftung, Caritas Africa, Caritas Europa, and the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), our dialogue explored how vicious debt cycles cripple economies, particularly in Africa, preventing crucial investment in climate resilience and human development.
Outdated debt frameworks too often lead to harsh austerity, trapping nations in a cycle of low growth and high vulnerability.
However, momentum for systemic change is building. From the African Union’s Lomรฉ Declaration to key discussions at the G20, the call for a fairer, more equitable global financial architecture is growing louder.
A sincere thank you to our speakers and moderators for their great contributions: Sarah Ribbert, Ulrich Volz, Marit Maij, Magnus Guldberg, Wesley Chibamba, and San Bilal for his excellent moderation.
