Alongside the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) we had the pleasure to host a two-day dialogue in Warsaw on April 8th and 9th, focusing on “Re-balancing European voices in the EU international cooperation agenda: ETTG – PISM dialogue on resilience.” Under Chatham House rule discussions fostered a rich exchange of ideas among experts and stakeholders.
Key Highlights include:
- The first day explored the EU’s approach to fragility, delving into past lessons and identifying more effective strategies for building resilience in partner countries. Participants discussed how development policies can better empower local populations and governments, and examined the application of the Global Gateway in challenging environments. A reception dinner on April 8th provided a further opportunity for informal engagement.
- Day two shifted the focus to the future, addressing the priorities for the new EU Commission on development. A significant part of the discussion centered on the perspectives and potential contributions of Central and Eastern European countries to the EU’s role as a global development actor. The dialogue also considered the potential implications of EU enlargement for the future direction of the Union’s development cooperation policy.
ETTG extends its gratitude to the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) for their generous hospitality and for facilitating these timely conversations. The diverse insights and expertise shared over the two days will be instrumental in shaping a stronger and more effective EU international cooperation agenda.
Look out for an upcoming ETTG policy brief that will provide a comprehensive overview of the key findings and recommendations from this dialogue.
