Iliana Olivié

Ilana Olivié is the Director of the European Think Tanks Group (ETTG), a distinguished network of leading European think tanks that brings together over 400 policy researchers dedicated to EU international cooperation for global sustainable development.

In addition to her role at ETTG, Iliana Olivié serves as a Senior Analyst at the Elcano Royal Institute, where her responsibilities include coordinating the Elcano Global Presence Index. Furthermore, she is an Associate Professor in Applied & Structural Economics & History at the Complutense University of Madrid. In this academic capacity, she imparts knowledge in macroeconomic analysis, theories of development, and economic development within post-graduate programs.

With a Ph.D. in Economics earned in 2002, Iliana is an esteemed member of the Spanish Council for Development Cooperation, a consultation body within the Spanish Administration. She also holds the position of Vice-President for Policy Engagement at the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI).

Her expertise extends across diverse research areas, where she delves into globalization and international development. Iliana’s work encompasses global development agendas, European and Spanish aid policies, economic development, and global development finance, including foreign direct investment and international migrant remittances.
